Enhanced Digital ID Display - Astro25

Here is a rundown on how to get the enhanced digital ID display working on your Astro25 radio! You will need to have H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display in your flashcode to get this all to work "properly."

This is for the Astro25 series of radios, such as Motorola XTS5000, XTL5000, even the XTL2500 and so on. This really won't work for an XTS3000, but there are ways around that - saved for another video.

Here's how to get this going:

  1. Fire up your CPS & open your radio's codeplug
  2. Open the ASTRO Call list and add some other radios like your buddies numbers
    1. There are 2 types: Groups & Individual: Individual is what you will use for specific radios that your friends have
    2. This is especially important for Model II radios as you can only select from your list, you cannot free-key in a radio number
    3. Group Call ID 65535 is an ALL CALL number, so everyone will get it if they are on the channel
  3. Under your Conventional Personality, open the ASTRO Call tab, and check all the boxes for Decode and Encode, then select your call ist
    1. With the Decode stuff checked, your radio will decode the info from other radios, even if they are not in your call list (provided the TX radio has this set up)
  4. Under the Radio Wide window, pop over to the General tab and near the bottom, do this:
    1. Check the Radio ID Alias Enable & enter an Alias (Name), for example, X311Spartan - This will be sent when you TX, and show instead of a number
    2. The call list will override what you set - so if your alias is Bob1212, but your friend has Dude in his call list with ID 1212, his call list will show, not your Alias
  5. Open the Display Menu, hit up the PTT ID tab, and check both boxes for ID Display and Scan ID Display
    1. End of Voice Timer is how many seconds the ID remains on the screen after the transmission ends... Nothing more
    2. The Number of Prefix Characters (I use 4) sets the space allocated on the screen for prefix such as ID: etc.
  6. Make sure everyone involved in this has their ID number set in the ASTRO System - check the General Tab on each radio. Your Individual ID is what goes in the call list. You do NOT need to add your own ID to the call list...
    1. Each radio needs it's own unique ID - don't duplicate numbers!
  7. With all this set, save your codeplug and send it to the radio
  8. Profit!
