Emergency Button Programming on an XTS5000

Emergency button programming for Motorola XTS5000 using CPS. This video walks you through setting up the emergency button function for MDC as well as P25. Its quick and simple.

Let's get this rolling by firing up your radio and CPS:

  1. Under Radio Configuration, Controls, make sure you set your Top Button to Emergency
  2. On the Radio Wide settings, check under the Emergency tab that none of the boxes are checked (unless you want those options)
  3. For your ASTRO personalities, make sure your ASTRO system is selected that you are using the EM feature on
  4. For your MDC personalities, make sure your MDC system is selected that you are using the EM feature on
    1. For Revert Channel, you can select whatever you want, I prefer to keep my radio on the same CH the activation was generated on
    2. Don't forget to make sure the Unmute Type is set to Or for MDC (unless your system uses something else!)
  5. For each personality type, ASTRO or MDC, I make sure all the encode and decode options are set, though this isn't needed for EM
  6. Under your MDC System, pop over to the Emergency tab, and check the box to enable Emergency, and do the following:
    1. Set the Emergency Type to your desired setting. I use Alarm Only, so the radio doesn't automatically TX after activation
    2. I also set the Acknowledge Alert Tone, because action feedback is important (not needed if you don't care, or don't have a dispatch console)
  7. Under your ASTRO System, head over to the Emergency Tab and check the box to enable Emergency, and do the following:
    1. Set the Emergency type according to your preference (same as above)
    2. Set the Acknowledgement Alert Tone according to your preference (same as above again)
    3. Set your revert zones and channels according to your setup
    4. Under the Advanced tab, check the box to enable Emergency Alarm Rx Indicator (this will allow you to see and hear EM activations from others)
  8. Send it! Write this to the radio
  9. Profit!
