NAS: Non-Affiliate Trunk Scanning

The following destructions, when followed appropriately, will allow for scanning of a trunked system safely. It's of the utmost importance that no interference is caused. You follow these instructions at your own risk, and by doing so, agree to hold this author harmless of any damage caused, of any kind, whatsoever, forever - like 2 minutes past eternity.

Here are some notes, until this is built out:

Full Spectrum Control Channel Scan vs. Non-Adjacent Site Search

In a real environment as an affiliated subscriber, the radio checks adjacent sites via the site neighbor frequencies as provided by the control channel of the current site.

Enabling non-adjacent site search tells the radio to check both the adjacent site list and the pre-programmed control channel list.

Even if non-adjacent site search is enabled, the subscriber will only resort to the pre-programmed control channel list if all the adjacent site's RSSI values are below the set threshold. When that criteria is met, the radio will check the pre-programmed control channel list about every two minutes.

As everyone has told me, FSCC scan should be used as an absolute last resort. FS scan starts if the neighbor list and the pre-programmed control channel list fail to find a site to affiliate with. It will start at the lowest frequency possible in whatever band the last CC was in and check every single frequency for a system ID/ WACN match. And every frequency it encounters that's busy when it checks will slow down the process.
