Accuracy¶

Every page was accurate on the day it was written, against the specific hardware, firmware, and software versions in front of me at the time. Firmware moves, vendor software moves, and manufacturers reorganise their own documentation. Check the manufacturer's current documentation before acting on anything here. Where a page contradicts the vendor, assume the vendor is right and the page is stale.

Nothing here carries a warranty of any kind. If you follow a procedure on this site and it bricks a radio, corrupts a codeplug, wipes a container, or takes down a service you cared about, that outcome is yours.

Radio¶

Being able to program a radio is not the same as being authorised to transmit with it. Nothing on this site grants you that authority.

Frequencies, talkgroups, system access, and encryption are governed by your licence and by whoever owns the system you are keying up on — in the US, FCC Part 97 for amateur and Part 90 for land mobile, with equivalent regulators elsewhere. Programming a channel does not license you to use it, and knowing a system's parameters does not entitle you to access it. Both are yours to sort out before you transmit.

The MotoTRBO Basic Privacy key table published here is a fixed, manufacturer-defined list that has been publicly documented for years. It is a reference, and it is not a substitute for real encryption. The key generators produce ADP and AES-256 key material through an embedded Google Apps Script — a third-party service — so treat material generated through someone else's infrastructure accordingly, and don't key a system that matters with it.

Vendor software¶

Some pages describe modifying vendor software, or working around the access controls inside it. Whether you may do that depends on the licence you agreed to and on the law where you live, and in some jurisdictions the answer is no. Those pages record what was done and how it worked. They are not an argument that you should do it, and the decision is yours to make with your eyes open.
