Add Storage to the PVE

There are a lot of ways to attach storage to the PVE, and this document outlines how I did this with a second internal SSD. The hardware I'm using is a ThinClient with an NVME and SSD. The NVME is where Proxmox is installed, and the SSD is what I am attaching as extra storage.

  1. Under PVE, select Disks
  2. Select the disk you want to use (in my case it was sda)
  3. Select Wipe Disk
  4. After wiping, select Initialize Disk with GPT
  5. After initialization, select Storage from the Datacenter tree of fun
  6. Select Add then choose Directory
  7. Give it a name (the ID: I selected ssd-internal)
  8. For Directory, enter the drive's mount point (mine was /mnt/pve/ssd-internal)
  9. Select all of your other applicable options as needed, then click the Add button
